Sega Toys has recently announced the newest addition to its Dream Pets collection: a 3.5-inch robot hamster called Yume Hamusutaa (“Dream Hamster”) that oozes cuteness. For instance, when you put it in the palm of your hand, the furry hamster moves in its charming hamster way.

Three versions of the hamster robot will be available: a Golden hamster, a Roborovski hamster, and a Jangarian hamster. Sega will begin selling the trio in Japan on August 8 for about $11, and plans to produce 100,000 of the creatures on an annual basis. The company says its main target group is not kids, but females between the ages of 20 and 40 years old, undoubtedly aiming for the maternal instinct.
